When calling an 0871 phone number callers pay a fixed tariff of 10p ( inc. VAT ) per minute at all times, and you receive a share of the revenue gained. They are ideal for use on fax lines, information lines or for diverting calls internationally.
As with all of our numbers they are available without any change to your current telephone systems. We pay a revenue on all calls of up to 2p per minute on every minute that someone calls your number.
If you are running primarily a sales line you might want to consider using 0800 Freephone or 0845 numbers, as opposed to 0871, as these are cheaper for your callers and are therefore more effective marketing tools.
It is important to point out that under measures announced by Ofcom on 19 April 2006, CRS will cease in January 2008. From this time, every Origniating Communications Provider (OCP) including mobile operators will need to charge no more for 0870 calls than national calls to geographic numbers (unless a free-to-caller price pre-announcement is made). Revenue sharing will no longer be possible under this regime.
**0871/2 will be regulated by PhonepayPlus from 1 August 2009. This means that if you would like to use one of these numbers you will have additional regulatory obligations. Please refer to our website at www.opal.co.uk/ofcom for more information.
